In celebration of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem 2025, government agencies, youth groups, and environmental advocates gathered on July 26 at Zone 6, Barangay Bula, for a massive mangrove tree-growing activity.
Spearheaded by AGOS Seacampers in partnership with CENRO GenSan, SBPS-PAMO, and Kidlikasan, the coastal restoration effort united diverse stakeholders in planting mangrove seedlings along the shoreline. It strengthens marine habitats and bolstering climate resilience in the region.
The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, observed every July 26, highlights the crucial role mangroves play in protecting coastlines, nurturing marine biodiversity, and mitigating climate change.
Established by UNESCO in 2015, the celebration raises awareness about accelerating mangrove loss and promotes restoration efforts that strengthen community resilience and ecological health.
This year’s theme, “Protecting Wetlands for Our Future,” underscores the importance of safeguarding mangrove forests as a cornerstone of sustainable development and climate adaptation.
