With the theme “Maitum Youth: Bursting Energy, Championing Advocacy, and Spreading Impact,” the Municipality of Maitum successfully held its 2nd Maitum Youth Festival (MYF) from August 1 to 12, culminating in a celebration of youth empowerment, cultural pride, and civic engagement.
Spearheaded by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Maitum, in partnership with the local government, this year’s MYF expanded its reach with a diverse lineup of youth-centered activities designed not only to showcase talents and skills but also to reaffirm the vital role of young people in shaping their communities.
The 12-day celebration featured a dynamic mix of events, including:
- Maitum Youthpreneur Bazaar
- Maitum Junior Officials 2025
- Sports tournaments
- Interschool Buwan ng Wika 2025
- Project AGAP: Agap na Gabay at Alalay Pangkalusugan
- Cultural Dance Workshop
- Young Farmers Challenge Business Pitching
- Student Leaders’ Convergence
The festival concluded on August 12, aligning with International Youth Day, with Battle of the Bands, a grand fireworks display, and a live performance by the Virgu Band, drawing cheers from the youth and community members.
“We’re transforming MYF into more than just a week-long celebration,” said SK Federation President Kenneth Lance A. Rocapor.
“Our goal is to build year-round programs that nurture leadership, skills, and opportunities—with continued support from youth organizations and the LGU.”
The organizing team expressed gratitude to the LGU Maitum, SK barangays, Barangay Councils, DepEd, private sector sponsors, and the Maitum youth who actively participated and made the event a success.
Now officially institutionalized with an annual budget allocation from the LGU Maitum, MYF is set to become a permanent fixture in Maitum’s youth development calendar.
Mayor James Mark B. Reganit, a consistent advocate for youth empowerment since his days as a municipal councilor, reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive programming.
“We make sure every event reflects the diverse interests of our youth. Next year, expect even greater support under my administration,” he said.
Mayor Reganit also congratulated the SK Council and all 19 barangays, encouraging young people to remain active and productive members of their community.
