Bantay Kuryente Denies Endorsing Ignite Power Joint Venture

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The Bantay Kuryente Movement has strongly denied claims circulating through text blast scams that the consumer group is endorsing the proposed joint venture between Ignite Power and SOCOTECO II.

In an official statement, the group emphasized that it does not endorse any private companies, reiterating its role as a consumer watchdog committed to transparency, accountability, and consumer education.

“These misleading text blasts are clearly intended to confuse Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs) about the real status of our electric cooperative and the alleged closed-door negotiations with Ignite Power,” the statement read.

The group urged MCOs to remain vigilant amid the controversy, warning that certain individuals appear to be spreading propaganda to advance their own agenda.

Bantay Kuryente reaffirmed its commitment to defending consumer rights and ensuring that cooperative decisions are made openly, fairly, and in the best interest of the community.

The controversy over SOCOTECO II’s potential partnership with Ignite Power has sparked debate among consumers, with many calling for greater transparency in the cooperative’s decision-making process.

Bantay Kuryente’s latest statement seeks to clarify its position and counter disinformation that could mislead its members.
